I DESPERATELY WANT A KINDLE. Today I tried to convince Jacob to buy me one -- he wasn’t having any of that. He did, however, offer to buy me a book for it. A fair trade.
Originally, when Kindles first came out, I wasn’t so sure how I felt about them. As someone who has loved books ever since I taught myself how to read at the age of 2 (I know, I was such a child prodigy!), I wouldn’t say I was thrilled about an invention that, as I first saw it, threatened to make books obsolete. But then I sat next to a guy on a plane home from Vegas who had one. I basically pestered him for the entire flight, asking a zillion questions, and after he let me hold it for a few minutes, I decided it wasn’t so terrible.
And now, seeing how my family and friends who have them absolutely LOVE them, I think it’s time I jump on the bandwagon. I’m ready for a Kindle!
Considering how often I travel, it really makes the most sense -- no longer will I have to lug books across the country every time I get on a plane. In December, for my six-day trip to Cancun, I packed SEVEN BOOKS! It’s like I’m PUNISHED for being a speedreader. (Oh, you didn’t know I was a speedreader? That’s a fun fact for you. I can read a 300-page book in an hour and a half. It’s a fun party trick that costs me a LOT of money in bookstores.) And if I’m ever gonna get one, now is the perfect time -- right before I embark on the first of what will be several long trips out of the country.

Do any of you have Kindles or another kind of E-reader (like the Nook)? How do you like it? And as long as I’m asking questions, would you like to buy me one? :)

I just found your blog from JGIWC and I am having the same thoughts about a kindle. i'm a speed reader and just packed six books for four days in south carolina. Did you ever get your kindle? Do you like it?
