I couldn’t help but look down and admire my own nails, which, I’m proud to say, are freshly painted a glossy shade of OPI’s Lucky Lucky Lavender. It’s a bright, light, pretty purple - I get lots of compliments on it!
Nail polish is one of those things that is really new and exciting for me. Confession: I bite my nails terribly, so I have had acrylics for the past 13 years - since my bat mitzvah! Up until about a year and a half ago, my nails were always long and painted in a French manicure. I don’t know what made me suddenly change my mind, but I woke up one morning and decided it was time to start trying colors! Now my nails are super short and always painted a different, pretty color.
Here are some of my favorites!
Left to right, all Essie: Splash of Grenadine, Lion Around, and Movers & Shakers. Splash of Grenadine is very similar to Lucky Lucky Lavender - I choose it when I want something sassy but not pink! Lion Around is as close as I get to a nude shade - it’s very subtle but still has a little shimmer. And Movers & Shakers is basically the perfect hot pink - not too bright but still gorgeous and bright!
I have a feeling I’ll be adding a few new polishes to my repertoire soon. When I was at my salon last week, I was waiting for my appointment and was browsing through their little gift shop when I spied a row of Butter London polishes. As a packaging lover, I was immediately drawn to their classy little glass bottles, and loved some of the colors immediately - I haven’t stopped thinking about Rosie Lee (a glittery coppery pink).
I also had a gift card to Amazon.com gift that I was itching to use, so I bit the bullet and bought a color I’ve loved forever - Deborah Lippman’s Happy Birthday. Rainbow glitter nail polish - ARE YOU KIDDING? Yes please! Can’t wait til it comes... I’ll post a pic so yall can see!

I'm a nail polish addict. Seriously. My row of Chanel polishes have become part of my apartment decor... It's sort of a problem. I change polish colors as frequently as I change my outfits, which is part coordination and part due to the fact that as a former nail biter, i now obsessively peel off nail polish. Eek! I'm not proud.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE glitter polishes, and Happy Birthday is a great one -- but mind you, it takes about 4 heavy coats to get the glitter to be anywhere near all-over coverage!
Essie nail polish is my favorite! I love chubby cheeks and french affair!

Can't wait to see it on you. I may buy a bottle just to look at! My husband is implying it's a bit "young" for me. Hmphh.
