Glee is Reading My Mind and I Like It

I have a confession to make. This is going to sound nuts, so bear with me. When I told this to my mom on the phone, she told me I shouldn’t blog about it, because people would think that I was actually certifiably crazy

I am CONVINCED that the creator of Glee, Ryan Murphy, can read my mind and is planning all episodes in accordance with my mental list of my ALL TIME FAVORITE SONGS.

I am not talking about songs that I casually like and occasionally enjoy listening to, though there are plenty of those in the episodes that fall in this category. No, I am talking about, songs that I know every single word to, songs that are on my iTunes list of Top 25 Most Played, songs that I AM IN LOVE WITH AND WOULD MARRY IF I COULD.

It all started the very first episode. For an entire hour I sat with my eyes wide and my mouth open, totally loving what I was seeing. And THEN the children of New Directions whipped out “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey, and I almost fell off the couch. A week later this situation was repeated when they sang Salt n Pepa’s “Push It” and I rewound it fourteen times in a row.

Since then, the following songs on the list of my ALL TIME FAVES have been covered:

Heart’s “Alone”

Bon Jovi’s “It’s My Life”

Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline”

“Defying Gravity” from Wicked

Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary”

The Pretenders’ “I’ll Stand By You”

“And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” from Dreamgirls

Madonna’s “Like A Virgin”, “Vogue”, and “Like A Prayer”

And of course, “Total Eclipse of the Heart” from last night’s episode. I was lying in bed watching it and I BOLTED UP at the first bars of music and almost started crying. And then again, rewound it literally six times.

So, Mr. Murphy! I don’t mind at all that you can read my mind and regularly do so in order to search for songs to portray. In fact, I shall help you out. Here is a list of songs that I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE and would absolutely pass out if they were featured on Glee (hint hint):

“Bette Davis Eyes” by Kim Carnes

“Listen to Your Heart” by Roxette

“Hallelujah” by Jeff Buckley

“Slide” by the Goo Goo Dolls

“Dancing in the Dark” by Bruce Springstein

“Separate Ways, Worlds Apart” by Journey

“Falling Slowly” by Glen Hansard”

“Silver Springs” by Fleetwood Mac

“One of Us” by Joan Osbourne

“Jessie’s Girl” by Rick Springfield

“Don’t Want to Miss A Thing” by Aerosmith

“You Should Hear How She Talks About You” by Melissa Manchester

ANYTHING BRITNEY BUT ESPECIALLY “(You Drive Me) Crazy”

ANYTHING GAGA BUT ESPECIALLY “Bad Romance”

You guys. If the rumor is true that they are covering Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance, I WILL pee on the floor. I swear it.
