The Sweetest Thing: Introducing Cookie Casa!

Warning: do not attempt to read this blog post if you are even slightly hungry. If you do, and you drool on your keyboard, it’s not my fault. Don’t say I didn’t warn you...

A few days ago, I was playing around on Facebook (probably stalking each and every one of you) when I noticed I had a message in my inbox (best feeling ever.) I clicked to open it.

It was my friend Abby, who is fun and sassy and is a TRAINED PASTRY CHEF (yes, my friends are winners). She recently started working at a new bakery, Cookie Casa, and is trying to get the word out about their delicious cookies, cupcakes, and cakes. Would I be interested in sampling some of their treats? she wondered. And if so, could I maybe put the word out about the bakery on my blog?

“Who the fuck would turn down a proposition?” I said out loud. And so that is exactly what I emailed back to her. Free treats? The opportunity to brag - um, I mean, share them with all of you? Um, DUH.

So after several long days and nights (in which I laid awake dreaming about chocolate chip cookies), Abby delivered this adorable package to me this afternoon. (She was wearing a pink shirt, she informed me, because it was Wednesday and after all, what do we do on Wednesdays? WE WEAR PINK. Amazing.)

Anyways, back to the treats. You guys. OMFG. Inside this little package was pure ridiculousness:

Anyways, back to the treats. You guys. OMFG. Inside this little package was pure ridiculousness:

COOKIES. Chocolate chip, double chocolate, and oatmeal peanut butter. SO delicious, soft and squishy. (The squishiness of a cookie is very important to me. One time I was at a random bakery and before buying a wrapped cookie, picked it up and squished it slightly to determine how soft it was. The next week, when I was there, the cookies had a little handwritten sign above them: “Please Do Not Manhandle the Cookies.” True story.) Anyways, these were perfectly squishy and melted in my mouth. YUM.

perfect delicious. perfectly squishy.

CUPCAKES. I LOVE cupcakes. But I can’t handle the ones from Sprinkles or Crumbs -- they’re just too sweet for me. These were so good -- not cloyingly sugary but still perfectly sweet. And the sprinkles on top were so cute! Plus, all cupcake flavors are also available in cakes -- perfect for weddings, baby showers, wedding showers, bar mitzvahs, barbeques, picnics, random Tuesdays, half birthday parties, birthday parties for your pets....

You think that’s good? I saved the best for last...

CRACK. Yes, crack. Okay, in real life they’re called Chocolate Fudge Cookie bars, but Abby told me that most people refer to them as crack. As soon as I heard that, I knew I had to try these first -- and lo and behold, the nickname is worth it. They’re FANTASTIC -- fudgy and gooey and chocolatey. Usually, I live life by the motto “crack is whack” -- but in this case, I think I would happily become an addict :)

crack in a bag!

Now I imagine you have finally wiped the drool off your face, and you’re a) embarassed at your lack of self-control over your saliva, and b) wondering where you can find these fantastic treats!?

WELL. Good thing I am a prepared little blogger and have all the answers!

  • Their website (duh) -- www.cookiecasa.com . Ordering online is super easy AND... drumroll please... they deliver! To both the city and valley :) what could be better?
  • Some of their treats (including the Crack!) are sold on the Sweets Truck, which can be found all over LA. Click here for more info and to find out when the truck will be near you!
  • You can follow them on Facebook (click here) and follow them on Twitter (@cookiecasa) -- I already do!
  • And best of all, the wonderful ladies of Cookie Casa (owner Erin and bakers extraordinaire Abby and Kristin) are also hard at work planning a pop-up bakery! Details to come - I promise I will post them so you can race on over and get your fix :)

So here’s the deal. Forget Sprinkles. Abandon Crumbs. Susiecakes who? Cookie Casa is where it’s at. They’re completely reasonably priced, have an adorable elegant-yet-homemade quality, and are effing delicious.

What are you waiting for? Aren’t you hungry? GO ORDER SOME. Your stomach will thank you.
