Another year, another White Elephant Gift Exchange Party! Last night’s shindig was so much fun!
If you’re a newer reader, let me fill you in - for the past three years, every January on a Sunday evening, my dear friend Alexandra and I throw a White Elephant Party and invite all our friends! (You can read about the other ones here and here.)
The catch to this one is we ask our guests to bring the WORST gift they got during the holidays - that way, they can get rid of it! We make delicious snacks and drinks and everyone has a great time. I love our tradition!
The hostesses with the mostest :)
A table full of treats! This year we served a delicious cheese platter, a veggie tray, and a ton of desserts - homemade whoopie pies, angel food cake/strawberry skewers, mini cupcakes with buttercream frosting, and smores brownies which are out of this world - I’ll share the recipe tomorrow!
Every year I am surprised by the hilarious and odd gifts our friends bring to the game. This year, people gave some heinous jewelry, a hardboiled egg maker, candles, nail polishes, a Tommy Bahama gift card, skull-shaped ice trays, funny toe socks, and more... I gave a “Flavor Your Own Popcorn” set complete with butter and salts. My friend Amanda gave away a huge ugly painting she’d been wanting to get rid of... poor Alexandra got it!
Some beautiful pals...
Other beautiful pals!
Alexandra and I are friends from high school! Here we are with the rest of our pals from Milken. We are so lucky to have such great friends:
Third time’s the charm, indeed :) This is such a fun tradition that I look forward to every year, and I couldn't ask for a better co-hostess than Alexandra. Can’t wait til the FOURTH Annual White Elephant Party!
Looks like fun, Jordan!
ReplyDeletethis was so much fun!!! cannot wait to co-host the FOURTH annual next year! :)
ReplyDeleteSO amazing! What a fabulous idea. I would want to go to just see the awful gifts that people get. I mean, an egg cooker?? Really? :(
ReplyDeleteLove this idea! My sorority alum chapter used to this as our January event every year.
ReplyDeleteI would have loved to come. This year my MIL gave me 3 packs of Hannukah napkins. Just saying.
Ha! Fun! Just hoping that whoever gave you that popcorn set doesn't read your blog! ;-)
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun idea!
