A Birthday Poem for Beckles!

Today is a MOST special day. On this day, 26 years ago, a little sunshine was born, and the world was never ever the same again!

Since the moment I laid eyes on Rebecca “Beckles” Gherkin Gerrick, my life has been full of love, laughter, and craziness. In honor of this occasion of her birth, here is a snazzy little poem, complete with beautiful (and occasionally slightly embarrassing) photos of the little pickle herself :)

(Please note, I call her Gerrick, but for the purposes of this poem I think Beckles fits better. That is all.)

Beckles is 26! Today we will celebrate,

Because she is fabulous and sassy and great.

We have so much fun wherever we are,

It really doesn’t matter that we live so far.

We trade phone calls and emails and BBMs all day long,

A day when we don’t talk feels completely wrong.

We love to shop, dance, sing, gamble, drink, and eat,

A more fun person you could never ever meet.

All the patients in the hospital are really lucky indeed,

To have Beckles taking care of them in their time of need.

We love Forever 21, gay bars, and Japanese food,

When we’re together, we’re always in a great mood!

From Tucson to Texas to Memphis to LA,

We have a blast no matter where we stay!

Our love for Dirtbags, 1409, and AEPhi will never end,

I will always consider Beckles to be my forever friend.

No one makes me laugh as hard as Beckles can,

And no matter what, she’s my biggest fan.

Everyone should have a friend like her, this I believe with all my heart,

She is wonderful and caring and loving and smart.

We love and support each other through laughters and tears,

I love celebrating our birthdays, here’s to many more through the years!

I know our friendship will never ever end,

Happy Birthday to my very best friend!
